What is Athens MLK Day of Service?

Athens MLK Day of Service is an annual celebration in support of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday and commitment to service. Each year, people across the United States come together on Dr. King’s birthday to observe the only federal holiday that is designated as a National Day of Service. For the past 15 years, the Athens community has been a part of this nationwide movement. Last year, 1,033 volunteers made Martin Luther King, Jr. Day “A Day On and Not a Day Off.” This year, Athens-Clarke County needs to raise funds to make the projects more meaningful and sustainable, so let’s get the FACS community involved!

Interested in Volunteering?

The College of Family and Consumer Sciences will be a participating sponsor supporting registration at the host site and will not be leading service activities at a specific project site.
