"Georgia Policy Opportunities: The Economic Impact of the Early Care and Education Industry"
The 2009 Family Impact Seminar presented legislators with the results of a recent study conducted by faculty from the Child and Family Policy Initiative and Georgia State University that determined the economic impact of the early care and education industry in Georgia. Dr. Sally Wallace, professor of economics at GSU, explained the study's findings, most importantly that the early care and education industry generates $4.1 billion of economic activity annually in Georgia.

Additionally, Dr. Geoffrey Nagle, state coordinator for Louisiana's BrightStart program, described the recent tax credit incentives put in place in his state in order to promote greater access to better quality early care programs.
