The Child and Family Policy Initiative held its first statewide annual conference on October 13, 2008, at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education in Athens, Georgia. Researchers, practitioners, and policy makers from throughout the state examined how children are impacted by the juvenile and criminal justice systems through presentations and panel discussions. The conference concluded with a town hall meeting during which participants discussed how the knowledge gained could be transferred to a plan of action.
