Program Planning in Health Promotion and Education
Dr. Carol Cotton in the College of Public Health teaches Program Planning in Health Promotion and Education (HPRP 4400). Each semester the students must design a trifold board for an elementary school target population that displays health-related information (such as the importance of hand washing or wearing sunscreen). The boards are then displayed in the elementary schools around Athens.

Women's Health

Dr. Carol Cotton teaches the Women’s Health class (HPRB 3150) each spring. The class holds a women's health fair in the community. Community health partners collaborate to sponsor this event. Students work in groups of five to produce a trifold educational board, along with an informational handout, giveaway items, and other relevant materials. The topics vary from osteoporosis to contraceptives, from cancer to heart disease. The students "man their tables" for three hours and provide this information to the public. The 2009 health fair will be held in April.

For more information on either of these projects, contact Dr. Carol Cotton at cpcotton@uga.edu.
