In Mozilla Navigator, go to Window, Mail & Newsgroups.
If this is the first time you've setup Email, a Wizard will startup.
If you've already setup Mozilla, but want to make changes, go to Edit, Preferences, Mail & Newsgroups.
- Check email and click on Next
- Enter your First and Last Name, and youre email address and clock on Next
- Select IMAP, and for Incoming Server enter imap.fcs.uga.edu and for Outgoing Server enter smtp.fcs.uga.edu
- Enter your Username for both the Incoming and Outgoing User Name.
- For the Account Name your email address is set by default. You can name it anything you wish.
- You're now finished -- you'll see the summary of your account information, allowing you to go back if corrections need to be made.
If everything is correct, click on Finish
- Now, to make sure your client is setup to look in your mail directory for your incoming email, go to Edit, Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings.
- Then, select the Server --> Advanced button.
- Under the IMAP tab, in the IMAP server directory: textbox, type mail and click on OK.
How do I get Mozilla to remember or forget passwords?
Note on SMTP & IMAP: There is a difference between the incoming and outgoing mail server entries - The Incoming mail server can be of a type IMAP or POP, and the outgoing is of type SMTP.
You can have many Incoming, or IMAP server selections, if you have more than one mail server, but only one Outgoing, or SMTP server.
If you are on campus, using Spock as your Outgoing mail server, you should put 'smtp.fcs.uga.edu' or 'mail.fcs.uga.edu' in the SMTP box.
However, and this is important, if you are at home, put in the SMTP server for your ISP as your outgoing mail server e.g., mail.charter.net, mail.lig.bellsouth.net, etc.
