The easiest way to find the IP number on your PC is to go to one of many Web Sites that tell you what it is.

One of these is IP Chicken.

If, however, you'd like to know how to find out on your local PC without visiting a Web Site here you go:

For Windows 2000/NT/XP go to Start, Run, and type cmd

This will bring up a Command Prompt (or DOS Window)

Type ipconfig and look for the IP number under the Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: section.

For Macs:

Click on the Apple icon on the left side of the navigation and choose System Preferences. Choose Network and Show: Network Status. Your IP address will display in the window.
