Women’s History Month at FACS

The month of March has been designated "Women's History Month", an annual declared month that celebrates the contribution of women to events in history and today¹s society.

It began as Women¹s History Week on March 7, 1982, but over the next several years, Congress passed additional resolutions that led to the designation of March as "Women's History Month". The celebrations also coincide with International Women's Day on March 8 of every year.

The College of Family and Consumer Sciences can trace its origins back to 1918 with the introduction of a bachelor¹s degree for women in the Division of Home Economics within the UGA College of Agriculture.

We are proud of our history as the entry point for women at UGA and look forward to recognizing Women¹s History Month and the many significant contributions of women throughout our centennial events of 2018.
