Consistency in Childcare Settings

Most people understand the importance of lasting and reliable relationships within the family. There is also the need for stable and predictable relationships in childcare settings. Changing childcare providers and environments too often is disruptive for a child. A child needs to be able to build relationships with all of the regular caregivers in her life to feel safe and secure.

She needs to experience familiar routines to encourage learning and provide a sense of control. Adults need to strive to provide reliability in as many settings as possible.
