  • Identify ways the agent can assist in providing diabetes education to the community

Description

Diabetes Academy is a self-paced diabetes education program designed for FACS Extension Agents. The CD-ROM contains basic diabetes information including the following chapters:
  • What is Diabetes
  • Nutrition and Diabetes
  • Meal Planning Approaches
  • Diabetes and Exercise
  • Diabetes Medication
  • Monitoring Diabetes
  • High and Low Blood Glucose
  • Diabetes Complications
  • Role of the Agent
The Diabetes Academy training includes down-loadable pre- and post-tests and activities in addition to interactive lesson assessments. Supportive materials will be mailed along with the CD-ROM.

The Diabetes Academy CD-ROM is available from Connie Crawley at 706-542-3773 or ccrawley@uga.edu. There is no cost to University of Georgia Extension personnel. For non-UGA Extension employees, there is a cost of $15 for the education package that includes the CD and diabetes education materials required for some of the activities.
