If you live in housing built before 1978 and are hiring workers to perform activities that may disturb paint, you must receive a copy of the pamphlet Protect Your Family from Lead in Your Home before work begins.
What kinds of housing does Lead PRE apply to?
Lead PRE applies to residential housing and apartments built before 1978. What kinds of housing are exempt from Lead PRE?- Housing built in 1978 or later.
- Housing for the elderly or disabled persons (unless children will reside there).
- Zero bedroom dwellings (studio apartments, dorm rooms, etc.).
- Housing or components that is declared lead-free by a certified inspector or risk assessor.
- Emergency renovations or repairs, that is, some unexpected occurrence which would result in damage, harm or severe inconvenience to the resident. Minor repairs and maintenance that disturb two square feet or less of paint per component.
