Sponge with a commercial cleaner.* Allow to dry completely. Sponge with water. Apply diluted hand dishwashing detergent and a few drops of ammonia. Cover with pad of absorbent dampened material and let stand as long as any stain is being removed. Flush with water. Sodium perborate bleach may remove the final traces of stain if it is safe to use on fabric.

* Look for products containing petroleum distillates or hydrocarbon such as trichloroethane, xylene, methylenechloride, methane, benzene and/or naphtha. These chemicals may be found in such spot removers and cleaners as Guardsman's Afta, Dap Cleaner and Thinner, Goof Off, M-l Remover, Goo Gone, K2r.

Be sure containers are closed tightly when not in use. • Read label for special storage and disposal instructions. These products can be found at hardware stores, discount department stores, and grocery stores.

Carpet

Blended Fibers, Hemp, Jute, Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Wool

Quickly blot up excess spill. Sponge the stain with a commercial dry-cleaning solvent. * Continue until all stain is removed. Mix 1 teaspoon of a white dishwashing detergent in 1 cup of lukewarm water. Add a few drops of ammonia. Sponge the stain using this solution. Blot. Sponge with clear water. Blot thoroughly and allow to dry quickly.

  • When using solvent-based cleaners on carpet or upholstery, be careful not to overwet the carpet or the fabric. Solvents can destroy the carpet backing and foam padding used in upholstery. 
  • Ammonia damages silk and wool. If you must use on these fibers, dilute with equal amounts of water and use sparingly.

Hard Surface Floors

Resilient (Asphalt, Cork, Polyurethane, Vinyl), Wood (Stained, Varnished, Waxed)

Remove excess wax. Wipe surface with a cloth or sponge dipped in warm sudsy water to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Polish or wax wood floors if necessary.

Bamboo, Cane, Plastic, Vinyl

Remove excess wax. Wipe surface with a cloth or sponge dipped in warm sudsy water to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Rinse wpll and wipe dry with a cie;ln cloth. Gently wipe up the excess with a cloth dipped in the suds of a mild detergent and water solution to which a small amount of ammonia has been added. Rinse well with a clean cloth dipped in clear water and wrung almost dry. Polish or wax as soon as possible if needed.

Upholstered Furniture

Blended Fibers, Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Wool

Quickly blot excess spill. Sponge the stained area with a commercial dry-cleaning solvent. * Blot. Combine 1 teaspoon of a white dishwashing detergent and 1 cup lukewarm water. Add a few drops of ammonia. Sponge the stained area using this solution. Blot. Sponge with clear water until all residue has been removed. Blot thoroughly to remove excess moisture. Allow to dry quickly.

Remove excess wax. Wipe surface with a cloth or sponge dipped in warm sudsy water to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Polish or wax wood paneling if necessary.

Gently wipe up the excess with a cloth dipped in the suds of a mild detergent and water solution to WI a small amount of ammonia has been added. Rinse well with a clean cloth dipped in clear water and wrung almost dry. Polish or wax as soon as possible if needed.

Exterior Surfaces

Porches, Decks, Patios - Wood (Painted, Stained)

Remove excess wax. Wipe surface with a cloth or sponge dipped in warm sudsy water to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean cloth.

Siding/walls - Masonite, Vinyl, Wood (Painted)

Remove excess wax. Wipe surface with a cloth or sponge dipped in warm sudsy water to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
