1. How many applicants apply and are accepted each year?
Each year, we receive between 50 and 100 applications, we generally accept about 20 to 30 students, and award about 5 to 12 new graduate assistantships (type of financial aid).
2. Is there an application for assistantships?
There is no separate application form for assistantships, because we assume all students want assistantships.
3. I want to apply to the dietetic internship, how do I indicate this?
If you are going to apply for the dietetic internship, then mark your intent to apply to D&D Digital Systems for the dietetic internship program on the form called "Application to UGA Department of Foods and Nutrition Graduate Program".
4. Are dietetic interns eligible for assistantships?
Dietetic interns are eligible for assistantships except during the 6 months of their internship.
5. Are international students eligible for assistantships?
Yes, international students are eligible for assistantships.
6. Do you offer courses in Nutrition Education?
Yes, we do offer courses and programs in nutrition education.
7. Do you offer courses in Nutrition Biochemistry?
Yes, we offer courses and programs in nutritional biochemistry.
8. How does your graduate program rank nationally?
There are no national rankings of nutrition graduate programs, however, nearly all of students are employed shortly after graduation and/or are admitted to other graduate or professional degree programs.
9) What GRE score do I need to be accepted?
Most students admitted to our graduate program have GRE (Verbal + Quantitative) of 1,100 or more, verbal GRE of 400 or more, GPA of 3.5 or more, and TOEFL (for international students) of 220 or better (or 600 or better).
10. How long do your graduate programs usually take to complete?
A masters degree takes about 2 years of study and a doctoral degree about 4 to 5 years of study.
11. What kind of city is Athens, Georgia?
Athens is a very beautiful community to live in with many cultural, athletic, and musical events held year round.
