Welcome
to Fit to Eat
Did You Know?
The number one
cause of preventable death in the U.S. is smoking. Obesity is a close
second and causes 300,000 deaths each year.
What is Fit to
Eat?
- Fit to Eat
is a public health campaign to encourage and promote smoke-free dining
and healthy meal choices in local participating restaurants.
- Trained staff
will be working with participating restaurants to offer tasty, nutritious
menu items, which will be certified with the new Fit to Eat logo.
- All food items
marked with the Fit to Eat logo will be equal to or less than 30%
calories from fat, as recommended by the United States Department
of Agriculture.
- The Northwest
Georgia Health District 1-1, the University of Georgia Department
of Foods and Nutrition and Cooperative Extension, United States Department
of Agriculture, and the Department of Human Resources sponsor the
campaign.
