Meet Colton Strawn, a Master of Science in Financial Planning student from Monticello, GA. Colton earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Georgia, and is currently a financial services representative for State Farm.

Why did you decide to pursue a degree in financial planning at the University of Georgia?
I have been in the industry for three years and have loved every minute of it. I wanted to attain the CFP certification and found out that I could get a masters in Financial Planning and a CFP at the same me time. So that's why I'm here!
What is your favorite class and why?
Advanced Financial Counseling and Client Communication; I enjoy working with people and helping them. This class enables me to practice my communication skills while and learn new ways to help clients in the most financially optimal way.
What are your plans post-graduation?
I want to become a financial planner. Ideally, I would like to work with a seasoned financial planner for a few years and eventually take over his/her book of business when they retire.
How would you describe your experience with the ASPIRE Clinic?
Helping clients improve their financial situation is the cornerstone of what makes Aspire so great. We get to hear client stories and what they'd like to accomplish financially. We have access to our classmates and professors as a resource, to help a client attain their financial goals and dreams in the most optimal way possible.
