Why did you choose your major?
I chose to major in Dietetics because I developed a passion for nutrition and its role in health in high school, and I wanted to become a registered dietitian to use that passion to help others. I added Consumer Foods while in college to enhance my knowledge of food by learning about the business side of it and what influences consumers’ food choices.
What do you like most about FACS?
While there are so many things I love about FACS, what I like most is the family atmosphere of the college. It is truly special and unique among colleges at UGA. FACS provides many events and student organizations that bring together people from different departments. Through these events you see the FACS family shine as they celebrate each other and work together to improve their campus and community. The administration, faculty and staff also play a major part in making Dawson feel like home. They genuinely care about all the students and help us in any way they can. While in FACS you are never just a number; you are an important part of a community. I am so grateful for the support I have received from faculty and other students, and my FACS family will always hold a special place in my heart.
What are your post-graduation plans?
In August, I will start the combined master of science/dietetic internship program in FACS. This program will allow me to further my education and complete the required supervised practice hours to become a registered dietitian. While in graduate school, I will also be a research assistant for Dr. Ali Berg in Cooperative Extension.
