How Many People You Educated: In 2013 Bibb County had 759 active participants.  Since Walk Georgia began in 2008 Bibb County has had 3156 active participants.

Educational Impact:    

In 2013, 427 Bibb County participants walked the equivalent of 104,720 miles.  The average participant logged 18 miles each week.  The average participant lost 7 pounds during the 12 week session.  Over 48 percent of the participants reported physical activity during the last week of the program.  Bibb County participation made up 22.97 percent of the total state participation.

Public Value/How This Helps Your County/State: 

Walk Georgia participants improve their fitness levels leading to reduced risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cognitive decline, obesity, osteoporosis, and some cancers.  Increased physical activity improves general health reducing general medical expenses to the individual and community.
