Personal

I’m originally from Lee County, Ga., and currently reside in Oglethorpe County with my husband, Jeff.

How long have you been working with Extension?

I have been with Extension for 15 years.  I began my career as a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent in Training in Tift County. Then I became the Habersham/White Counties 4-H and Youth Extension Agent.  I served in two different grant-funded Family and Consumer Sciences Extension positions in Madison County before accepting the Morgan and Oconee counties position.

What originally attracted you to Extension work and what would you say is the best part of the job?

When I was at Georgia Southern, Diane Miller, Bulloch County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent, spoke to our class about her job.  I was able to do an internship with her and really loved everything about FACS Extension.  The best part about being an Extension Agent is working with communities and its members to really make a difference in the lives of families and children.

Can you tell us about any role models or inspirations you might have?

My parents have always been great role models and instilled in me what it means to work hard and feel accomplished. My husband, Jeff, is my inspiration. His daily support makes it easy for me to be successful in all aspects of my life.

Any favorite books or movies?

Favorite book: To Dance With the White Dog by Terry Kay. Favorite movie: Steel Magnolias

What has been your proudest moment as an Extension agent?

My proudest moments as an Extension agent are when my program participants say how much they enjoyed the educational class and want to know when the next one will be.

What are some of your hobbies or favorite activities outside of work?

Cheering on the Dawgs at UGA football games, boating, reading and cooking.

If you weren’t an Extension agent, what other line of work do you think you would have pursued?

I would have been an event/party planner.
