Research:
History of home economics/family and consumer sciences; women's roles in international development Teaching:
Family resource management Outreach:
Leadership development in higher education administration. Member of the faculty, African Studies Institute, UGA. Interests:
Administration in higher education is a challenging pursuit. For fifteen years, I worked with faculty and helped to create a learning environment where faculty and students engage in the pursuit of knowledge that supports individual, family, and community development. Advancing the College of Family and Consumer Sciences was my passion in the position of Dean.
During the 2006-07 academic year, I have the privilege of “retooling” as I prepare to return to primarily teaching and research. Through interaction with students I strive to impart to them the unique qualities and contributions of Family and Consumer Sciences.
I have been fortunate to have accumulated an extensive network of international colleagues. Economic and social change has impacted women and households, and I am interested in exploring ways to educate and empower women through collaborative research and service programs. I am concerned about the development of family and consumer sciences programs around the world. Education: | 1976 | Ph.D. | Family Economics | University of Missouri
