Description

The CFP® certification has become one of the most recognized and respected credentials in the financial services industry. In fact, CFP® professionals gain such a significant competitive advantage that many advisors are willing to spend up to five years completing the education required to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination.

The Financial Planning Certificate program developed by the University of Georgia and Cannon Financial Institute, Inc. provides twelve months of intense CFP® education through intense classroom instruction throughout the year.

Program Overview

Comprised of five 5-day courses (40 hours each), one for each module, and one 6-day course (48 hours) for the review course for the CFP® Certification Exam.

The courses follow the Cannon Schools format: arrive Sunday for orientation, classes Monday – Friday (8-5), test on Saturday (AM). Taking courses in order is not required, but is recommended.

Costs

Myrtle Beach - $3,225, includes registration, tuition, lodging, and meals. Northern Illinios University - $1,500, lodging and meals not included. All other locations - $2,795, includes registration, tuition, lodging, and meals.

Prerequisites

In addition to study guides, textbooks are required for each course. You will find these textbooks listed below with each relevant course. Students may purchase the Study Guides and textbooks through the College for Financial Planning.

Students must register and order class materials at least 60 days prior to the start of each class. Applicable reading assignments and quizzes must be completed before attending class.

The financial planning certificate offered by the University of Georgia in conjunction with Cannon Financial Institute satisfies the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) educational requirement for CFP® certification. After successfully completing the program, you will be eligible to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination.

Bachelor’s Degree Requirement: The CFP Board requires that applicants, in addition to meeting other existing requirements, possess an accredited undergraduate degree in order to be considered for CFP® certification. Please contact the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., for further information.

CFP® Live Exam Review Course

After completing all five exam courses, you may request to receive the Review Course for the CFP® Examination. The content in this course contains detailed review of material covered in previous courses as well as extensive sample questions divided among the five program topic areas. This course also includes all test questions released to date by the CFP® Board, so you can get a feel for the structure, presentation, and nature of questions included in past CFP® Certification Examinations. Please note that these questions are provided only to familiarize you with the format of the exam; they should not be interpreted as a preview of actual exam questions.
