Description of program: The Ghana Summer Service-Learning in Nutrition/Dietetics and Public Health is designed to provide students with hands-on experience working with malnourished children, pregnant women, HIV/AIDS patients, and nutrition and healthcare seeking behavior in a different culture.
While studying in Ghana, students will:
This Service-Learning experience will offer students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a different culture and the way of life of the people regarding their food habits, management and treatment of malnourished cases, in terms of the healthcare seeking behaviors. Students will learn and be expected to work with others as pertains in the field of public health. Activities to be conducted in the different places and communities will be driven by student interests and talents.

Application Deadline: Send application by Jan. 18th, 2008 and $250 application fee by February 29, 2008.
Approximate Cost: Between $3000 and $3500, which includes housing in the community, breakfast and dinner each day, field trips, admissions fees to selected cultural and tourist events, and ground transportation.
Dates: Approximate dates are mid June and last for eight weeks (Summer Thru Session)
Courses Offered: Most study abroad programs count as a major electives (under the course number 5710 and 3010)
