The University of Georgia Student Merchandising Association is an organization designed for students majoring in Fashion Merchandising in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. SMA's function is to provide Fashion Merchandising students with the opportunity to develop and enhance skills needed to obtain a career in the fashion industry. This includes being able to participate in a variety of events in the community and the fashion industry to which SMA is dedicated.
SMA prides itself on member participation, and 100% involvement is needed for events such as the annual fashion show. Leadership roles are highly encouraged since many committees are need for events like this.
Career development is emphasized through resume-building seminars, participation in career fairs, and speakers from the fashion industry.
Members not only enjoy satisfaction from serving the community and the college, they develop a network of friendships through the Student Merchandising Association. We meet every other Wednesday in Dawson hall Room 110 at 6:30pm. Dues are $20 per semester
