All faculty and advisors in the college are encouraged to promote these new opportunities to students http://www.fcs.uga.edu/research/student-research. Remember this is competitive allocation of the assistantships. Students must apply by Wed. August 20.

KUDOS – FACULTY
Congratulations to Dr. Gene Brody and the faculty and staff of the Center for Family Research who received two grants this week for the National Institutes of Health providing more than $7 million to further their research. The FACS financial planning, housing and consumer economics department has received a $50,000 grant from TD Ameritrade Institutional to support further growth of its nationally-recognized financial planning program. FHCE professors John Grable and Joe Goetz were presented the award in New York City last week. INTERDISCIPLINARY FACULTY IN FHCE
Dr. Heidi H. Ewen joins FACS and the College of Public Health in a joint tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in the departments of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics and Health Promotion and Behavior, an interdisciplinary position in the fields of gerontology and housing. Her appointment will be effective August 15, 2014. Heidi holds a graduate certificate in statistics and a PhD in Gerontology from University of Kentucky and MA and BA in Psychology from University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Eastern Illinois University. She joins us from Miami University of Ohio, Oxford, OH where she is currently an assistant professor in the department of sociology and gerontology.
Ms. Kristi Kuhn leaves FACS Dean’s Office to move to Florida. Her last day in FACS is Wed. July 30. Thank you and best wishes, Kristi!
