1. Announcement: SSAC Hours

The Student Success and Advising Center may be closed for a portion of the day Wednesday, April 26, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., for staff to attend the UGA Advisor Workshop. The Center will be closed the afternoon of Friday, May 5 for the FACS Convocation ceremony. The Center will also be closed on Tuesday, May 9, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m for a staff retreat.

If you need assistance during this time, send an email to success@uga.edu or visit your major’s departmental office or the Dean’s Office.

3. Announcement: Career Outcomes Survey

The purpose of the Career Outcomes data is to provide the UGA Community with a snapshot of the post-graduation employment status of each graduating class. Each year, the Career Center surveys the graduating class and collect the most accurate information possible using a variety of methods including: online responses phone calls, data mining, an student employment data provided by UGA departments and employers. All data is confidential and will be reported in aggregate form online (by college/school and major).

4. Announcement: OIE Summer Social Media Takeovers

Are you heading abroad this summer? Are you an international student spending your summer working or studying? The Office of International Education would love to connect with you and let you take over their social media for a week to show your experiences with a broader audience!

5. Course Announcement: FACS 2011

FACS 2011 Intro to Social Entrepreneurship (3 credits)

An introductory course targeted to students interested in creating and growing their own social enterprise. Students will learn about innovative, business-orientated approaches that seek to solve social, cultural or environmental problems in a sustainable way.

Fall 2017, 9:30-10:45 TR, 312 Dawson Hall

Instructors:

  • Daniel McBrayer, JD U of AL, MBA UGA, Partner Roundtable Development, Technical Co-Founder of Vestigo Adventures, LLC
  • Kari Baker, BBA & MBA UGA, Founder of Dwell, Operations at Venn Collective

This course will count toward the Entrepreneurship Certificate.

Class of 2017, UGA Alumni Association wants to throw you a party on Thursday, May 4 in your honor featuring:

  • The 2017 Senior Signature Plaque Unveiling

  • Photos with Hairy Dawg + the UGA Cheerleaders

8. Event: G-Day with FACS

G-Day is this Saturday!! Stop by Dawson Hall for some ice cream and use our photo booth!

9. Event: Dawgs Ditch The Dumpster and Donate

Starting Thursday, April 27, Residents can look for convenient donation areas at each residence hall to leave unwanted items. All items left in a donation area will be diverted from the landfill and given to local and regional organizations in need.

10. FACS Pick of the Week!

Calling all 2017 Spring and Summer Graduates!

The FACS Convocation is a more personal ceremony for all graduation candidates of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. It will be held at The Classic Center on May 5th at 3:00 pm.

The event is free, but registration is required. If you’d like to attend and be recognized in the ceremony, be sure to register by April 28. Click on the image above to register.

As enrollment and activity slow a bit over the summer, so will our announcements. FACS Connection will be published once a month, in June and July, and will return as a weekly publication beginning August 11.
