SAFCS will be hosting the first annual Dawson Hall Pageant on February 25, 2016. No pageant experience is needed to participate in the pageant. ALL students with majors and minors in FACS are encouraged to participate.
The pageant will consist of four categories: “When I Grow Up”, “Lip Sync Competition”, “School Spirit”, and “Formal Wear and Question”. Entry forms were released on January 11 and must be turned in by Monday, February 1. Entry forms guarantee a participant’s spot in the pageant; however, if more than 20 people submit entry forms, pageant participants will be chosen by seniority.
An information session will be held on Thursday, January 21, at 7:00 p.m. in 110 Dawson.

Sydney and Yana, SSAC interns and HDFS majors, are here to help you submit resumes for internships, jobs, graduate school, and more. Resume critique hours are:

Collegiate Next Great Consumer Brands
In partnership with Consensus Advisors and NASDAQ, the Entrepreneurship Program is excited to announce UGA's very first Collegiate Next Great Consumer Brands Competition. Student teams from all over the country are invited to apply. The team with the winning consumer/retail brand idea or business receives a $25,000 award and an all expenses paid trip to New York City to attend the Next Great Consumer Brands Conference in Times Square on April 27, 2016.

The Office of the Provost is looking to fill the position of Student Liaison for Spring and Fall of 2016. The Student Liaison will identify and coordinate the Provost’s participation in student events and interactions with student organizations, collaborate with student government leaders, and facilitate regular communication with various student groups across campus. This is not a position designed to primarily to assist with clerical work, though the student may help with administrative tasks. They are looking for a high energy student that will be proactive and take personal ownership over the position. This would be a fantastic opportunity for a student that may already have some student leadership experience on campus.

Summer Academy at UGA is seeking to hire assistant instructors to support a wide variety of academic summer camps for middle and high school youth. They are looking for undergraduate students with knowledge of the camps’ focus areas and a passion for working with youth. The assistant instructors will be teamed with an instructor (typically a graduate student, faculty member, or professional in the field) to develop and lead the week-long courses. Assistant instructors will need to meet for an interview, pass a background check, and be available from 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. the week of their camp. There are opportunities to be hired for multiple weeks for some subject areas.

We'll host two summer sessions: May 29-June 4 and July 3-July 9 at Camp Westminster in Conyers, GA. No prior summer camp experience is required, only enthusiasm, compassion and a desire to serve. If your schedule accommodates both sessions, you are encouraged to apply to both.
