It was a lovely evening in Buckhead last month as members of FACS Financial Planning family gathered on the patio at Fados.
The night kicked off with alumni meeting with Dean Fox, Dr. Worthy, FP faculty and members of the Development and Alumni Engagement staff. Alumnus Blake Williams is leading a group of dedicated alumni to launch the Financial Planning Advisory Board Affinity Group. The first hour of the evening was spent discussing the mission, vision and goals for the group.
The charge to alumni affinity groups of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia is three fold: 1.To develop a professional community in which graduates can network with and learn from other industry professionals. 2.To provide networking and mentoring opportunities for currents students through strategic events. 3.To identify new industry networks, partners, and opportunities to secure student internships, job placements and financial support of FACS.
The Affinity Group Leadership will 1.develop a mission and specific goals 2.plan and execute a predetermined number of events 3.utilize technology to communicate with the Alumni office and other members of the leadership team 4. identify new networks and partnerships with industry resources
Other alumni who have volunteered for the Leadership Committee are Madison Ernst, David Ward, Alden Mergenthal, John Taylor, Natalie Barber, and Alan Moore.
Once the meeting concluded, the remainder of the evening was spent networking with currently enrolled students, local alumni, friends of the FACS FP program and staff from the college.
