Seeking students for ‘Body Project’ class

Announcement: Body Project Class

We are recruiting students to participate in the Body Project, a 2-session, interactive, peer-led class, which aims to help students feel better about their bodies. The class encourages students to verbally challenge the “thin ideal” that is prevalent in our society and the media through interactive role plays and written exercises. Through challenging the “thin ideal,” this program has been shown to improve body image satisfaction. The program curriculum is targeted toward individuals who identify as women; however, men are welcome to participate as well.

In order to get the most out of the class, we ask that you only register if you are able to attend both 2-hour sessions. Please email Brittany Bingeman at bbingeman@uhs.uga.edu if you are interested in registering for the November classes, and please specify which class you would like to attend (Tuesday or Wednesday classes). Classes will be held at a central location on campus – likely MLC, Tate, or Journalism. Once registered, you will be notified of the exact location.

Tuesday Class (please be able to attend both sessions):

  • Tuesday, November 3 (session 1) – 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 10 (session 2) – 5:30-7:30 p.m. 

Wednesday Class (please be able to attend both sessions):

  • Wednesday, November 4 (session 1) – 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 11 (session 2) – 5:30-7:30 p.m.

In order for students to get the most out of the classes, they will be limited to 8 participants each and students will be registered on a first come, first serve basis. If you are interested, but classes are full, we will gladly keep your contact information and notify you with the spring schedule of classes.
