FACS faculty member and department head Sheri Worthy is part of a multi-state research team whose work informed the development of a series of fact sheets regarding student loans.
The fact sheets address topics such as college savings options, choosing a federal student loan repayment plan, recovering from student loan default and more.
They are available here.
Recently retired FACS faculty member Teresa Mauldin also was a member of the research team, “Behavioral economics and financial decision-making and information management across the lifespan,” that is currently researching financial decision-making related to student loans.
Worthy is head of the FACS department of financial planning, housing and consumer economics.
“This information can really help a student in their decisions about borrowing for college,” Worthy said. “Research indicates that student loan debt can impact ability to buy a home, save for retirement or start a business.”
All students are invited to attend FHCE Open Classes during Showcase Week.
