Last January Vicky Dorsey, Director of Alumni and Corporate Engagement experienced her first Chilly Dawg 5K.  "Although it was a very chilly morning, the  generous support of the event provided warmth to the lives of students long after the race was completed," states Dorsey.

"Our goal is to raise money for our student scholarships and student focused programs and activities. Through sponsorships, we strive to increase awareness of the outstanding happenings at the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia."

In 2015 the FACS Alumni Association was able to

  • support the newly revised FACS Leadership Retreat for the college’s student leaders. Each participant was gifted a copy of the best-selling book Strengths Finder 2.0. by Tom Rath, along with participating in a dynamic training session on the principles in the book.

  • host an alumni reception in NYC, allowing students on the 2015 New York Study Tour the opportunity to network with FACS alumni working in the NYC area.

  • award a scholarship to an incoming freshman student studying a Family and Consumer Science discipline.

The 2016 event introduced a newly designed "chilly dawg"  and a new pre-race day packet pick up option.  On Friday before the race, FACS Alumni Association Board members were stationed at The Athens Running Company in Five Points.  Over 96 race packets were picked up by eager race registrants.

On a beautiful Saturday morning, that wasn't too chilly, over 295 participants enjoyed the course.
