Lucie Reynolds, a fashion merchandising major from Bainbridge, has received the Next Generation Scholarship from the National Retail Federation.

The honor comes with a full scholarship to attend the NRF Big Show in New York in January.

The Next Generation Scholarship is “the pinnacle achievement for students at NRF member schools who are currently pursuing retail careers and have demonstrated they are prepared to be a future leader and make an impact in the retail industry,” according to the NRF website.

Reynolds is now eligible to receive either a $25,000 scholarship or one of four $10,000 scholarships from the NRF.

“I’m really excited, especially to go as part of a fashion industry event,” Reynolds said. “It makes it more meaningful.”

Reynolds is a fourth year student majoring in fashion merchandising, studio art and psychology.

She is president of the Fashion Design Student Association and is performing research as part of the UGA CURO (Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities) program within the textiles, merchandising and interiors department under the guidance of TMI associate professor Katalin Medvedev.

Reynolds said she hopes to work in the fashion industry, possibly developing her own fashion line. She developed a passion for retail while working in a boutique in her hometown.

“I’ve always been interested in fashion since a very young age,” Reynolds said. “I can see myself being in a retail setting, but being creative as well.”
