Visiting the College of Family and Consumer Sciences is now easier than ever.
A new recruitment initiative, Visit UGA FACS, is intended to showcase the college’s majors, facilities, experiential learning opportunities and career paths.
A key component of the initiative is FACS Fridays, geared toward prospective high school and transfer students and their families. Those dates are Nov. 20, Feb. 12, April 1 and April 22. For more information and to register, see our Visit FACS page.
The college also will host an Open House as part of FACS Week on Saturday, Oct. 24. At this event, prospective undergraduate and graduate students will have the opportunity to engage with current students, alumni, staff, faculty and friends of the college as well as receive a tour of the facilities.
Registration for Open House ends Oct. 9. For more information, click here.
“I’m excited to recruit students to demonstrate the power of a FACS degree,” said Cara Simmons, director of the FACS Student Success and Advising Center. “A FACS degree can truly take you anywhere, and we want to showcase our strengths to as many prospective students as possible and let them know about all the opportunities within the college.”
Wayne Odom, whose daughter Ivy graduated from FACS this summer and is now pursuing a career in the food industry, urged parents of prospective FACS students to strongly consider the college.
"FACS was our daughter's home away from home,” he said. “All faculty and staff make it their priority to help each student succeed. The diverse curriculum, extensive alumni network and leadership and networking opportunities that FACS offers prepares students for almost any career. The connections and friendships our daughter made during her time in Dawson Hall will last a lifetime. As parents, we are proud to be extended members of the FACS family.”
