Research

Morrissey Stahl studies aging generally as a part of Dr. Denise Lewis's LIFE Lab and specifically sexuality and aging.

Current Research

Morrissey Stahl will defend her dissertation in October of 2017. Her work involved interviewing older adult women about their experiences of sexuality as they age.

Teaching

Morrissey Stahl has taught public speaking and civic engagement classes as well as interpersonal communication and human development classes.  She has guest lectured in gerontology, sexuaity, and sustainability classes. She is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work.

Outreach

Morrissey Stahl is part of a private practice as a licensed clinical social worker, Northstar Therapy Group, where she offers individual, couple, family, and sex therapy.

Kate Morrissey Stahl, MA, MSW, LCSW, does clinical work specializing in mindfulness-based interventions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and yoga in Athens, Georgia with Northstar Therapy Group (northstartherapygroup.com). She started down this track as a long-time practitioner of Zen meditation and yoga. She is a certified yoga teacher and also has a master's degree in communication, as well as a master's degree in social work and LCSW license. She taught interpersonal communication at the college level and worked as a mind-body therapist at a yoga studio before returning as a full-time Ph.D. student in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has co-led professional trainings in ACT, and she co-founded an ACT peer consultation group in Athens, Georgia. She is currently ABD in her PhD in Human Development and Family Science and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work.
