Family and Consumer Sciences Education
Family and Consumer Sciences education prepares educators to strengthen home and family life and prepares people for Family and Consumer Science careers. The curriculum provides study in teaching methodology as well as in the fields of child and family development, foods and nutrition, housing and consumer economics, and textiles, merchandising, and interiors.
The bachelor of science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences is offered jointly by the Colleges of Education and Family and Consumer Sciences.
FACS Education majors generally spend the spring semester of their senior year student teaching in a middle school or high school classroom. Teacher certification in Family and Consumer Sciences Education is obtained by following the approved teacher education program outlined and passing the required Praxis II Test in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
