Ambassadors of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences promote pride in FACS and help increase understanding of the various programs available to students in the College. Each year, outstanding undergraduates are chosen to be the primary student communicators for FACS and to develop their leadership abilities for future professional roles.
These students represent FACS at a variety of events such as career days, recruiting activities, alumni functions, special visitation days, high school student activities, seminars and receptions. At all times, the student representatives act as true ambassadors of the College via their language, appearance and activities. The FACS Ambassadors are selected based on their academic records, interpersonal skills, leadership experience and dependability.
Ambassadors are required to attend the Leadership FACS retreat held on a weekend during the fall semester, the South Campus Tailgate event held before one of UGA's home football games, the Donor/Scholar Recognition Reception in November, and monthly meetings throughout the year. In addition, they should be willing to participate in social and educational events of the College, including hosting visitors.
