 "China Study Abroad: Global Sourcing of Soft Goods"
Description of program: This twelve day trip to China will provide a new understanding of the incredible Chinese culture. We will visit retail centers like Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing. Factory sites will be toured to get a prospective of the Soft Goods Industry and how products are actually produced. We will visit the Beijing Clothing Institute to see an impressive museum of costumes from the 56 cultures of China, and observe your counterparts and their facilities. You will have the opportunity to visit Li and Fung the world’s largest soft goods sourcing company and see their design center in Hong Kong. We will also visit incredible tourist sites like the Great Wall, Forbidden City, and the 2008 Olympic site.
While studying in China, students will:
- Gain a broader knowledge of how China has reached a dominant state in soft goods production
- Study Chinese culture, history, and society
- Sightsee some of China’s most magnificent cities and sites
- Interact with China’s citizens on a firsthand basis
- View Chinese fashion displays, stores, and aesthetics

- Application and $500 non-refundable deposit are due by Dec. 16th, 2009 by 3:00 p.m. (Checks and money orders only--checks made out to UGA-China Study Abroad ) to Nicki Sauls room 112 Dawson.
Approximate Cost: $3,900 (the program fee does NOT include tuition or any fees associated with tuition)
