Open for lunch Sun.-Fri.; dinner seven days a week. Limited delivery. Prices are a little more expensive than other Chinese restaurants in town, but the food is well worth it. Try the "All You Can Stuff in a Lunch Break" buffet for lunch. Their version of Sizzling Rice soup is the best in Athens. Inoko Japanese Steak and Seafood House 161 Alps Rd.706/546-8589
Open for dinner, seven days a week. Sushi is the reason I go to Inoko. If you like the cooked stuff, pick anything on the menu: filet mignon, pork, shrimp, scallops, lobster, or chicken with fried rice, mushrooms, and veggies. It's all delicious--you can't lose. If you go to Inoko's long enough, you will realize that all the chefs that grill your dinner in front of you tell the same jokes. Expect to be put on a waiting list, unless you go for sushi. Look for the new Inoko's sushi bar to open downtown soon. Khun Al Thai 149 N. Lumpkin St.706-548-9222
Open for lunch and dinner, Mon.-Sat. Don't come here and expect authentic Thai food. Unfortunantly, the food is bland and the portions are too small. If you like basil, their basil rolls are brilliant. Peking 2725 Atlanta Hwy.706-549-9333 1935 Barnett Shoals Rd. 706-549-0274
Atl. Hwy: L&D 7 days, FB. Barnett Shoals: Open for lunch, Mon.-Fri.; dinner Sat.; all-day dinner Sun. Peking sports the biggest menu in Athens, but not the biggest taste. The decor is very nice; however, better Chinese food for the price can be found elsewhere. Thai of Athens 2033 W. Broad St.706-354-8284
Open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. If you want good Thai food, start here. Not every dish is authentic, but you can't go wrong with Thai classics like Yum Woon Sen (almost better than my mother's), Tom Yung Goong, Nam Sod, and Chicken Coconut Soup (Tom Kha Gai). I haven't really tried any of their Chinese dishes, but my friends rave about them. |
