Bankruptcy Education Classes

Dear Personal Financial Choices Participant:

University of Georgia Cooperative Extension (UGA) has been approved by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide the Personal Financial Choices educational course and to issue certificates of completion.

  1. UGA offers Personal Financial Choices at a cost of $50 (individual or couple) to cover the cost of materials, supplies, and other expenses associated with the course.
  2. A debtor presumptively lacks the ability to pay the fee if the debtor’s household income is less than 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines published by the Department of Health and Human Services.
  3. UGA makes all reasonable efforts to accommodate special needs of clientele, including translation services.
  4. Instructors have at least a Bachelor’s degree, experience providing financial education programs in the community, and annual training from UGA faculty to teach this course.
  5. UGA does not pay for or receive fees or other consideration for referrals to the program.
  6. UGA is obligated to provide a certificate to you promptly upon the completion of the instructional course.
  7. UGA may disclose your information to the United States Trustee in connection with the United States Trustee’s oversight of the provider, or during the investigation of complaints, during on-site visits, or during qualityh of service reviews.
  8. The United States Trustee has reviewed only UGA’s insructional course and has neither reviewed nor approved any other services the provider provides to debtors.
  9. A certificate of completion will be issued promtly when you have completed the instructional course.
