Why did you choose your major?

As an eighteen year-old entering college, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I “grew up.” I just knew I wanted to use my knowledge and expertise gained during college to serve others in some capacity. My dad, recognizing my interest in nutrition and fitness, encouraged me to look into dietetics and explore the route towards becoming a Registered Dietitian. After beginning my dietetics courses, I quickly fell in love with all the major had to offer. This major provides the foundation for a career that will allow me to serve others, whether that be educating patients, providing clinical nutrition care, or teaching communities around the world how to utilize their natural resources to achieve optimal health and minimize disease risk.

What do you like the most about FACS?

I love that FACS is a small, tight-knit college within this huge university, offering a true family feel. Because the college is small, you really get to know other students in your major and form life-long friendships. FACS professors are very passionate about what they teach and sincerely care for each student’s success. They have invested in me as a person and in my education, thoroughly equipping me for all of my future endeavors.

What are your post-graduation plans?

I will begin my Dietetic Internship and Master of Science in Foods and Nutrition here at FACS.
