Ginger Howard began her love for fashion and retail in high school in Waycross, Ga., where she worked for a family-owned department store. She attended the University of Georgia, where she made friends and invaluable connections that will last a lifetime. While in school, she worked at JJ’s, a small boutique in Athens, and gained valuable experience through UGA’s Fashion Merchandising intern program. She graduated with a degree in fashion merchandising in 1987. Following graduation, she stayed in Athens to become the manager of JJ’s.

Howard then moved to Alexandria, Virginia where she was the manager of an exclusive boutique owned by designer Frankie Welch. Being homesick for the South, she returned to Athens and managed JJ’s for the next six years. She then worked for Shaw’s Inc. as a buyer for women’s stores throughout the Southeast.

Howard ventured out on her own in 1993, opening a Southern buying office representing 25 stores. This quickly grew into a trunk show business that moved Ginger to Atlanta. By 1996 she was traveling all over the Southeast selling beautiful clothes in homes.

In March of 2001, Howard opened Ginger Howard Selections, a boutique specializing in unique women’s apparel and accessories located on Peachtree Road in Buckhead. Howard personally selects the very best and latest in fine fashion for her customers at Ginger Howard Selections. The selections are classic and timeless. From casual jeans to beautiful cocktail dresses, Ginger Howard Selections offers the perfect attire for her customers.

Beyond beautiful clothing, Ginger Howard Selections offers sales associates who are personally trained by Ginger to provide excellent customer service, a reason many women forgo department store shopping to shop at this one-of-a-kind boutique.

UGA’s Fashion Merchandising intern program has been very beneficial for Howard, providing her with multiple interns, including one who went on to become the store manager, and another who still works at the store today. Howard’s advice to college students is to get all of the hands-on experience that you can.

In 2010 and 2011, Ginger Howard Selections was named one of UGA’s Bulldog 100 (the 100 fastest growing businesses that are owned or operated by UGA Alumni each year).

Outside of the store, Howard is actively involved in the Republican Party, an interest sparked when she worked part-time for the RNC under President George H. W. Bush. In 2004 she was awarded Business Woman of the Year by the NRCC’s Business Advisory Council.

Howard also enjoys spending time with her two adorable nephews, hosting Bible studies for young women in her home, and attending Church of the Apostles. She also enjoys speaking for large audiences at churches and conferences.
