What is your fondest memory of your time spent in the college?

My very first meeting at Dawson Hall with Dr. Jane Rhoden. Dr Rhoden saw potential in me that I didn’t see in myself. Without Dr. Rhoden I wouldn’t be where I am today.

How did FACS prepare you for your career?

Every position I’ve ever had my FACS education has prepared me for.  Public Speaking, Statistics, Equipment and Economics have helped me in every job.  Three companies required a degree from FACS in order to apply.  Atlanta Gas Light Company 1989 (Consumer Information and Education Specialist); Sharp Electronics 1994 (Assistant National Product Trainer) and BSH Home Appliances 2012 (Consumer Scientist).

Why do you give to FACS/UGA?

I think it’s important to give back.  Including my time, talents and monetary gifts. Everything I’ve achieved in my career is in large part thanks to my FACS education and FACS family.

What is the best advice you can share with current FACS students?

Get involved!  You get out of it what you put into it!  Be engaged!  Ask questions! Take risks and don’t be afraid to fail.
