The College of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia has partnered with Georgia United Credit Union since 2006 to provide free income tax preparation to the Athens community. We believe that this service is a great asset to our community and it is an important learning experience for our students who staff the clinic. We would like to see more universities and local organizations forming partnerships to develop Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) clinics to help their local communities. If other organizations are interested in organizing a VITA clinic, we have provided many resources that may help in the planning process and we would like to serve as a resource if any other questions exist.

Volunteers must be certified by the IRS before preparing income tax returns at VITA clinics.
