The College of Family and Consumer Sciences is proud to announce the FACS 100 Centennial Honorees.

These individuals embody conviction and commitment to the ideals of the college, and through vision and hard work have been instrumental in advancing the college’s ability to serve students and enrich lives through its mission at the University of Georgia.

Honorees were chosen by a committee made up of faculty, staff, alumni, students and college leadership after an open nominations process in advance of the college's centennial celebration in 2018.

The College of Family and Consumer Sciences can trace its origins back to 1918 and the establishment of a bachelor's degree program for women in the Division of Home Economics within the UGA College of Agriculture.

At the FACS 100 Gala: A Centennial Celebration on February 24, 2018, the FACS 100 Centennial Honorees will be recognized, along with the members of the college's Honor Hall of Recognition, as influential contributors in the first 100 years of home economics and family and consumer sciences at UGA.

“As we stand on the brink of celebrating 100 years of family and consumer sciences at the University of Georgia, we’re excited to announce the names of these individuals who help us celebrate and honor our history and  unique contributions to the history of UGA,” said FACS Dean Linda Kirk Fox. “I am proud to join with others in recognizing these individuals who have embraced and influenced the ideals to which our college aspires, including student-centered education, research to improve the human condition, generosity and a spirit of public service. All of the Centennial Honorees and the members of the Honor Hall of Recognition are to be applauded for their contributions to our success.”

A special centennial website will launch in January that will include biographies and photos of the honorees.  The honorees' names also will be included in the 140-page pictorial history book the college will publish in the summer of 2018.
