Fashion merchandising faculty, students honored at ITAA conference

Laura McAndrews, assistant professor in the department of textiles, merchandising and interiors, and doctoral candidate Sara Idacavage received a Paper of Distinction award at the recent International Textile and Apparel Association annual conference in Baltimore.

The paper “I don’t want to ruin anything: Student perspectives on the use of historic clothing for design education in the post-pandemic age of digitization,” won in the pedagogy and professional development track.

Also at the conference, FACS undergraduate student Sophia Boyer, under the direction of faculty member Jewon Lyu, received a first-place award in the Best Student Paper competition for her paper “Sustainable style without stigma: Can social reassurance influence recommendation behavior?”

ITAA is a professional, educational association composed of scholars, educators, and students in the textile, apparel and merchandising disciplines in higher education.
