Lauren Coheley, a doctoral student in the FACS department of foods and nutrition, was included in the 2017 “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”
Coheley, a native of Atlanta, is a registered dietitian nutritionist and a certified diabetes educator, and is completing her doctoral studies in the Bone and Body Composition Lab under the direction of faculty member Rick Lewis. She was one of 16 students nominated across the University of Georgia system to receive the award.
“I am so thankful for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences for providing me with the experiences to excel in the classroom and for providing me with opportunities to grow in my leadership abilities,” Coheley said.
Who’s Who Among Students is a national college student recognition program and has been in existence since 1934. Students are honored based on outstanding campus leadership, future leadership ability and/or potential scholastic ability, and community service.
Coheley is also a recipient of the June and Bill Flatt Nutrition Excellence Graduate Scholarship and the Gladys F. (Nannie) Nesbitt/Flatt Education Scholarship.
“Every day I work towards being the best possible me in hopes of making my college, department and family proud,” Coheley said. “I am also thankful for my mentors, especially my major advisor, Dr. Richard Lewis, and Dr. Emma Laing who have helped me grow into the student I am today. Without them this recognition would not be possible.”
