Athens, Ga. – The sixth annual FHCE Showcase Week, which runs Jan. 23-Feb. 1, will give current and prospective students the chance to meet employers and learn more about the opportunities available within the financial planning, housing and consumer economics fields.
The department also is hosting two events leading up to Showcase Week designed to assist students with career searches, including resume critiques with a staff member from the UGA Career Center on Jan. 17 and a free Adobe Spark workshop on Jan. 18.
“We are very excited about the events we have planned for this year,” FHCE department head Sheri Worthy said. “We have expanded our Internship/Career Fair and apartment association networking event to include more employers and we are expecting a record crowd at the financial planning banquet. Students should take advantage of the preparatory activities we have in place such as resume critique drop-ins and the Adobe Spark resume workshop.”
The Financial Planning Banquet, set for Feb. 1, is an annual event where students, alumni, faculty, employers and supporters of UGA’s financial planning program have the opportunity to network and celebrate successes.
This year’s keynote speaker is FACS graduate Alan Moore, CFP® and co-founder of the XY Planning Network, a support network for financial advisors looking to serve next generation clients, as well as CEO of of AdvicePay, the first and only compliant payment processor for financial advisors.
