Bulldog Basics, formerly known as the Hygiene Closet, is a student-led initiative supported by the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (SAFCS), the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), and Embark@UGA. Embark@UGA, a UGA resource for students who have experienced foster care or homelessness, indicated the need for a hygiene closet during a meeting in Fall 2015. FACS and SAFCS eagerly agreed to take on the project. The Hygiene Closet officially opened in March 2016. A variety of personal hygiene items are stocked for students to access as needed. Bulldog Basics is funded by a UGA Sustainability Grant, awarded Fall 2016, and a UGA Parents Leadership Council Grant, awarded Spring 2017. Thank you to the Office of Sustainability for the purchase of bags to carry items.
