What is the CAC?
The Community Advisory Council (CAC) is a group of individuals who help guide the work of the University of Georgia's Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD). Council members share their experiences, perspectives, and ideas to help ensure that CHDD's programs, research, and activities reflect the needs and priorities of people with disabilities and their families across Georgia.
The CAC plays an important role in shaping CHDD's five-year plan, reviewing progress, and identifying opportunities to strengthen inclusion, accessibility, and quality of life for people with disabilities.
Who is the CAC?
The CAC brings together people with disabilities, family members, advocates, community leaders, and representatives from organizations that support people with disabilities.
A majority of CAC members are individuals with developmental disabilities or their family members. Members represent diverse backgrounds, experiences, and communities throughout Georgia. Together, they help ensure that the voices of people most directly impacted by disability-related issues are central to CHDD's work.

How do I get involved?
We welcome individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of people with disabilities in Georgia!
CAC members have opportunities to share ideas, participate in meetings which are held twice a year, provide feedback on CHDD initiatives, and help shape future priorities. You do not need to be a disability professional to make a meaningful contribution. Your experiences, perspectives, and commitment to your community are valuable.
