Solo Success: How to Thrive in the Academy When You're the Only ___________ in Your Department

This virtual workshop is designed to address the unique concerns of under-represented faculty members and those who are the only _____ in their departments. Participants will identify common challenges and learn specific strategies to increase productivity, serve strategically, teach efficiently, and build strong and healthy professional relationships. February 23 from 1-3 p.m. Facilitated by Angelique M. Davis, Professor of Political Science and Affiliated Faculty in African and African American Studies and Women & Gender Studies, Seattle University. Click here to register.

Certificate in Multicultural Mentoring

The Southeastern Conference (SEC), the University of Florida, and the International Mentoring Association (IMA) are offering a three-part series that provides tools for effective multicultural mentoring. These workshops are geared toward faculty and staff who serve in leadership roles. Participants who take all three live sessions will earn a certificate in multicultural mentoring. The Bulldog 100 Celebration was held on Saturday night. Congratulations to our FACS alums who placed 24, 32, 35, 40, 42, 46, 52, 77, & 91. If you know an innovative Bulldog who should be recognized, nominate them before July 31.

New Bobbi Meeler Sahm Award for Service and Outreach

Up to $10,000 will be awarded to applicants who are partnering with a community organization on programs addressing issues related to: public health and well-being; preK-12 education; disadvantaged youth; childhood and adult literacy; civic engagement; public safety; or other areas that will positively impact the quality of life of community residents. Applications are due February 21.

Brandi Herrin has been hired as a Public Relations Associate in the dean's office. She will work under the direction of Cal Powell, FACS Director of External Relations, primarily focusing on graphic design and social media. Brandi is a 2021 FACS grad (Consumer Economics) and previously worked as a graphic designer for Fit to a Tee Promotions in Commerce. Welcome, Brandi!
