UGA IS CLOSELY MONITORING THE NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
The campus’ senior leadership team will continue to meet regularly and monitor developments and will inform the campus community as the situation warrants.
We urge you to pay attention to direct communications that you receive from the University of Georgia via ArchNews and to ignore the many rumors or unsubstantiated information that you might receive from other sources.
Updates also will be posted to www.uga.edu and the University of Georgia coronavirus website, which we encourage you to check regularly. This website includes FAQ for students, employees, alumni, and the public. Recent updates on the FAQ page include:
During a recent meeting of the University System of Georgia Board of Regents, Chancellor Steve Wrigley told board members that while our hope is for institutions to return to normal face-to-face instructional operations in the fall, it will depend on direction and guidance provided by Governor Brian Kemp and public health officials. In the meantime, Maymester and Summer 2020 courses will continue to be offered online. The University of Georgia is using telework and flexible work strategies to minimize the number of individuals who remain on campus to maintain operations and support remote instruction.
FACULTY CONTRACTS
2020-2021 contracts for all contract-eligible, fiscal and academic faculty will be available electronically through the Faculty Data Self Service (FDSS) area of OneUSG Connect.
Faculty are expected to gain access to their contracts for review, print and signature at the beginning of June 2020; however, this timeline is dependent upon approval of the FY 2021 state budget, which is currently delayed due to reduced operations at the university and state level.
Faculty are expected to sign their contracts within 20 days of receipt.
Information is provided on the Faculty Affairs web site https://provost.uga.edu/faculty-affairs/contracts/ and you are encouraged to watch for future communications from the FACS college administrators.
Faculty members are encouraged to verify their login and access to OneUSG Connect and their Faculty Data Self Service before end of the spring semester.
Similar to previous years, the contract administration process will begin with Budget Planning and Salary Setting (also referred to as Budget Development). Units will have the ability to preview contract data before delivery to their faculty’s FDSS pages in the OneUSG Connect system. New and corrected contracts may be requested by the appointment unit’s business office after the first cycle of contracts are delivered.
SCHEDULE:
- Remote work contact: 706-224-6086 (cell call or FaceTime)
- The next Dean’s Update will be the week of May 11, 2020 and will contain updates on planning for initial return to campus in phases starting in June.
Sincerely,
Linda Kirk Fox
Dean
