2. FACS Student Ambassadors – Apply Today!

Applications and letters of recommendation are due at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26th.  Application Link

FACS Student Ambassadors represent the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at a variety of events including career days, recruiting activities, alumni functions, special visitation days, high school student activities, seminars and receptions. At all times, the FACS Student Ambassadors act as true ambassadors of the College via their language, appearance and activities. Each year, outstanding undergraduates are chosen to be the primary student communicators for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and to develop their leadership abilities for future professional roles. Ambassadors are selected based on their academic records, interpersonal skills, leadership experience and dependability.

Who is Eligible?

  • Full-time undergraduate students
  • 2.75 minimum grade point average
  • Enrolled in the College at least one semester
  • At least two semesters (fall and spring) remaining before graduation
  • A commitment to positively promoting the College

3. FACS Spring 2021 Book Club

The College of Family and Consumer Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is pleased to announce a Spring 2021 Book Club for all FACS faculty, staff, students and alumni. Registration is required (https://bit.ly/3bjz7mL).


4. Bulldog Basics Birthday Donation Drive

Bulldog Basics wants you to celebrate our 5th Birthday with us! Bulldog Basics provides personal care and toiletry items to UGA students on the Athens campus.

We are focusing on 5 items to get 500 products donated over the next 5 days. You can also donate $5 ($500 goal) to celebrate our birthday. We are also hoping for 500 followers on Instagram - @uga_bulldogbasics.

The FACS Alumni Association and the Student Success and Advising Center are hosting the Lil’ Ice Cream Dude at Dawson Hall in April. Take a break from studying and treat yourself to a free ice cream! Registration is required to receive a free ice cream. Register here: [bit.ly/FACSFreeTreat]

6. UGA Cortona Study Abroad

The University of Georgia's oldest study abroad program has been operating in the medieval Tuscan hill town of Cortona, Italy for more than 50 years. UGA Cortona offers an extensive list of studio art and art history courses, as well as classes in Italian, English, Women's Studies, Science, Business, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, and Agriculture. Earn UGA credit while living in Tuscany and traveling with the program to Italian cities such as Rome, Florence, Venice, Siena, Naples, Orvieto, Assisi, and many more!

7.  UGA Extension: COVID-19 Resources

8.  Participants Needed: VR Research

Be Ready for the Future Retail Environment!

Jeongah Shin and Dr. Jewon Lyu invite you to participate in a research study to explore consumers’ shopping experience using a virtual reality system. Your involvement in the study is voluntary, and you may choose not to participate or to stop at any time without penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. You will visit the Customer Learning Experience Laboratory (C.E.L.L.) at Dawson Hall #301 to participate in the VR experimentation. The experiment will take about 10-15 minutes of your time.  Participants will have a chance to get a $10 Walmart gift card.

9.  FACS Alumni Association Scholarship Opportunity

The FACS Alumni Association Scholarship II is a need-based scholarship awarded to a student who is enrolled in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and has declared their major within the college. This scholarship award is $1,000 and is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Funds will be awarded in fall 2021. The application will be open March 2 – March 26, 2021.

Application Requirements:

·       Reference letter from a faculty member (PDF format) 

·       Statement of Interest 

·       Outline of professional and scholastic goals
