FACS is developing a five-year strategic plan for diversity and inclusive excellence. We want your perspective on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in FACS. All forums are virtual.

Do you have questions for the Student Success and Advising Center?

Use the Live Chat option on the Student Success and Advising Center webpage. Go to www.fcs.uga.edu/ssac/ and click on the Live Chat button to submit your questions. You can ask about changing your major, signing up for an advising appointment, getting involved, and more! 

The Live Chat feature will be available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.; Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.; and Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. If staff are unavailable, questions will be routed to success@uga.edu


3. Learn. Grow. Go. Showcase

The Student Success and Advising Center will host the Learn. Grow. Go. Showcase on February 8th & February 16th from 12:00-2:00 PM

Tables will be set up displaying flyers, pamphlets, giveaway items, and posters for students to come by and pick up at their leisure.  If you have any questions, please contact Kassie Suggs

Programs and topics include: FACS Internship opportunities; FACS Study Away; FACS Student Organizations; Scholarships; Double Dawgs; Experiential Learning; Certificate Programs; the UGA Mentor Program; FACS Extension; and the UGA Career Center.


4. Diversity & Inclusion Career Conference

The UGA Career Center will be hosting their annual Diversity & Inclusion Career Conference on February 22, 2022, from 4-8 PM in the Tate Student Center, Grand Hall (5th Floor).

This event connects student attendees with employers committed to diversity and inclusion over a networking dinner and networking hour. Additionally, attendees will hear from our keynote speaker, Dr. Todd “Bowtie” Jenkins.

Dr. Bowtie believes we all have an opportunity to be an inclusive artist. In his personal and professional life, he performs art every day. His art is not with a paintbrush or a camera, it starts with his "Why".

6. Experiential Learning Scholarship Opportunity

The Office of University Experiential Learning is once again accepting applications for the Experiential Learning Scholarship.

The EL Scholarship is open to undergraduates who have completed at least one full semester of UGA coursework.  Awards are up to $2500 and can be used for ANY course or non-credit activity that has been approved for experiential learning at UGA. 

The spring deadline is February 15, 2022 and includes activities taking place in Maymester, summer, and fall 2022. Scholarship application and FAQs can be found here.  For questions, please contact the Office of Experiential Learning.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be an undergraduate
  • Must have completed at least one full semester of UGA coursework (at time of application)
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be pursuing an EL-approved course or activity
